Iain Duncan Smith is a truly disgusting creature. When he is confronted by heartbreaking stories of suffering and death, he reacts with contempt not empathy. When he is confronted by the courts, he gets the law retroactively rewritten to stick his fingers up at the legal system. When he is confronted about his lies, he claims that its perfectly OK to lie as long as you claim to believe that your lies are true. When he is challenged to live up to his idle boasts that he can live on £53 per week, he chickens out of it. When he is confronted by evidence that loads of disabled people are dying within weeks of being declared fit for work and thrown off benefits, he fights desperately to repress the evidence, rather than launch an investigation. But somehow right-wing people have convinced themselves that this dishonest, malicious and incompetent man is driven by some kind of profound morality.
