Ibadan NewsRefresh There is only one PDP exco in Oyo – PRO Feb 3 Posted by Omo-olomo By Tunde Ogunesan THE Public Relations Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Honourable Kehinde Salawu, has declared that there is only one executive in the state PDP with Honourable Yinka Taiwo as the authentic chairman. The image maker of the party, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, stated that those parading themselves as ‘factional arm’ of the party in the state were ‘jesters.’ Honourable Salawu noted that the congress that produced the Yinka Taiwo-led state executive was attended by all stakeholders in the state, with their nominees, and wondered why after two years, the same set of people was now coming out to deny their assent. “We were all there at the Liberty Stadium, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, for the party’s congress which produced Yinka Taiwo-led executive with directive from the national headquarter. But because of selfish interest of some people, they’re now arm-twisting the truth to favour their newly-found love and loyalty, which is against the general position of members of the party. Read More “Since then, the only recognised state chairman of the party- Yinka Taiwo had been representing the interest of the party at all state and national functions without any objections. The factional arm only appears on the pages of newspapers and they all know the truth. If not, has their so called factional heads ever gone to Abuja for party events?,” Salawu queried. He added that “we all understand why elders like Chief Saka Balogun are now championing the dissolution of the state executive because he was present at the congress that produced Yinka Taiwo as the authentic chairman.” “His senatorial chairman, representatives and other stakeholders were also there, so why the noise for dissolution now? The police report and the minutes of the congress are there for verification and were duly documented for records at our national headquarters in Abuja. “As far as PDP in Oyo State is concerned, there is only one executive and is currently being led by Honourable Yinka Taiwo, whose leadership quality has been attested to by all,” Salawu noted.
