Ibn Taymiyyah reported: A questioner asked, “How does Allah settle upon the Throne?” (10:3) It was said to him as Rabiah and Malik and others, may Allah be pleased with them, have said, “The settling is known; the how is unknown; belief in it is obligatory and asking about the how of it is an innovation (bidah),” for in general it is not known to human beings and it is not possible for them to answer concerning it.
