Id arranged to give a big party for my friend, Elizabeth, who moved away. Bob, the kind guy that he is helped me clean. I moved stacks of books and magazines and made it neat and I decorated. Last night, we had 30 some people and it was absolutely wonderful fun. My WWII vet friend said I should write more about PTSD because it is needed. He used to sort of think I was an idiot to talk about it, so that was nice. I managed to give Joe Haldeman a book I got for him about 10 years ago, and to send Nanny Oggs Cookbook home with Gay Haldeman for Lorena Haldeman, only 9 months late. I gave Sarah wool socks and a wool jacket (she gets terribly cold). I am trying to lighten my load. I also gave Patty Street a bunch of magazines for her library. Now I only have about a million more things to let go. There were a bunch of old friends there and my new friends, well, newer than 25 years ago, David Rowell and Dawn Rowell came bearing chickens, which nicely supplemented the ham and the potato salad I made. Every one else brought great vegetables or dessert or more meat. So we had great food and great talk, and by the end of the evening I was pooped, but it was fun. When we lived in Gainesville we used to have parties all the time, but I am a lot older and tireder now, but it was great. Took the day off today.
