Id like to share a few ideas and questions I have about how we can take our country forward and take it back from the right wing. People say, get involved, run for office, committee chair, school board, city counsel, etc but wheres the training, financing & support? You know who I see running for office and winning mostly? The staff members of current office holders. Maybe what we should be doing is recruiting good progressive, charismatic, intelligent people to work as staff members of council members, state assembly members, and congress members. So how do we find the best people who will champion things like jobs programs, health care for all, student tuition reform, immigration reform, a living wage and fracking regulation? Where do we find intelligent, charismatic, people who are great communicators and who have a strong sense of obligation to the average working citizen? We need a coordinated nation wide recruitment effort that goes beyond the typical recruit from party insiders routine and finds strong progressives to successfully push our party and country forward! The Right wing has been setting the agenda for this country for the past five or so years and we have been meeting their radical demands with our balanced ideas which always leaves us on their side of the field. I think its time to create a bold strong and fair left wing of the Democratic Party and push back on the radical right! Fight the cuts! Fight for jobs! Fight for Single Payer, Renewable Energy, Fracking regulation, Education investment, home loan write downs, & reversing Citizens United! Maybe we start recruiting here: University Poly Sci graduate students? Debate club members? Public speaking professionals? University professors? Union organizers? Actors and performers? We could hold a Youtube Chanell based Speech Contest and whoever gets the most views ie votes for making the progressive case we create a Kickstarter campaign for to raise money for training and support! We can do this in cities and towns around the country. How do we get them training? I know Democracy For America has excellent weekend trainings as does the Wellstone group founded by Paul Wellstone. How do we fund their campaigns? If people are not connected to deep pockets in the business community and large Party regular financial backers, where do they get the hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars necessary to run and win elections?
