Id like to show a comparison between last weeks flash back Fridays 427 and a LS engine build featured in the latest US engine masters magazine, it shows that keeping it simple some times is not such a bad thing, the amount of custom work and gizmos that went into this US motor is mind boggling, a sealed container for the cam shaft to run in with drain backs, tapered 3/8 to 7/16 push rods, exotic crank scrapers sleeved lifter bores in the after market block crank triggers an electric water pump. The list went on, its 436 cubes 9ci larger in displacement a half point up on compression ratio that made 7 more ftlbs of torque at a higher 600rpm and 8hp less at 200rpm higher than the 427 built two years back. Yes the 427 is using a tunnel ram but neither manifold is bonnet friendly.
