Id like to thank my friend Barbara LaRue for sharing these words from a woman who grew up on a dairy farm ... i was shocked to learn even more ugly truths about dairy farms ... i apologize for not having the authors name but please read and share ..... Dairy is everything beef is plus the diary part. Most beef cattle live at least part of their lives on grass, out in nature. Most dairy cattle never see a moment of freedom. The massive amounts of chemicals given to dairy mothers today pulls the calcium from their bones until their bone structure becomes too weak to function. That is why there are so many nearly full-term calves cut from their mothers bellies as part of dairy cow slaughter. As an aside, the industry loves that because the hides from unborn calves are highly valuable. In some breeds of sheep, the product is actually the skin of the unborn child and the mother is slaughtered so the baby can be skinned. That is not usually the case with cattle, however, but it is still highly valued. The mothers crumbled under the added weight of a nearly full-term calf plus in those last days, their bags fill with the 70 pounds a day of milk per day theyll give as they get ready to deliver. That extra 170 pounds is enough to cause them to crumble, at which point they are sent to slaughter. While the beef cattle are being fattened on feedlots, their fate is even worse. There is no comparison in my mind, dairy is far, far worse. I grew up on a dairy farm. I fought myself for a long time, telling myself, as everyone else around me said, that it was normal and had to be done, and so many more lies. It is my belief that most meat-eaters are fighting themselves.
