The Kingdom of Heaven - Part 8 Scripture “Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Matthew 25:1 Observation The parable of the ten virgins is one of readiness and faithfulness. The parable alludes to the return of Jesus. Jesus is the bridegroom, whos return is long in coming, clearly longer than expected by some of the virgins. The other virgins however are wise and prepared for the wait. They then are ready with lighted and filled lamps when he comes. The scary thing is that all these virgins believed the bridegroom was coming but not all made it to the banquet, which seems to indicate that some in church today will not see the kingdom of heaven because they are not truly prepared. Application Being prepared for Jesus return is a combination of a few things. Firstly, being a believer, although that is clearly not enough on its own, a follower may be a better description. Loads of folk believe in God but not all are followers. Secondly, doing the will of God, being the light to the world and fulfilling his plan for you. And thirdly, keeping a short account with God through prayer, worship, bible reading and fellowship. Dont find yourself on the wrong side of the door, shut out. If Jesus were to show up right now would he find you ready and prepared? Prayer Almighty God, we surrender all to You this day, forsaking our own will that Your will might be accomplished in the earth. Father, You have given us the power to effect change, and we pray that by Your Holy Spirit, You would expose any fears or anxieties that we might yet cleave to. Lord, we loose all ungodly, unwholesome mind-sets and renew our minds to the mind of Christ, who took upon Him the form of a servant and humbled Himself; becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. We desire to be completely abandoned unto You; captivated in Your bonds of love, yet completely free from sin’s entanglements, free from doubt and fear, free from worry and grief, free to BE all You have purposed us to BE! In the matchless name of Jesus the Christ, we do pray and declare it all. Amen!!!
