If I miss a day with an update, take it as good news... just so Im not boring anyone with the same thing saying another good day for Abigail, docs and nurses all gave great reports, and no event is a good day! No IV in her head or anywhere today for that matter, entirely moms milk as of last night. Speaking of moms milk, have to give a huge kudos to Cheryl for coming up with the colostrum and milk in the first place. Ask her days before the birth and there was no thought of breastfeeding. But have a specialist tell her the best food for a premie is breast milk, in fact, that an early birth actually creates a more powerful formula mix by moms that deliver early, and you have someone ready for pumping for now and breastfeeding later if Abigail takes to it ok. The picture below is about two days of pumping and by all standards, Cheryl is ahead of most women at day eight - one of the nurses told her she was practically Oakhurst Dairy! Both mom and dad got to kangaroo today - skin on skin with our daughter for at least an hour each at different times during the day. What an incredible feeling to have her snuggle in and just chill. Great reports all around. When they did morning rounds, actually near dinner time because it was a difficult day for others in NICU and we have to be reminded of how good things are going for us one day at a time because of that, they said that this little girl is a rockstar. You got it, thats our Abigail, a rockstar in the making!
