If I were UOU, OBA, EU, ONE, SHE, BSA, SJU, SUV,UIR, COI, CBO, - TopicsExpress

If I were UOU, OBA, EU, ONE, SHE, BSA, SJU, SUV,UIR, COI, CBO, OIA, CAO & name it etc; I would not wait, I would not wait till after the nomination. I have heard things like, I will wage war against poverty, I will flood the states with industries, I will create plenty jobs for the teeming youths etc; I will give Okada/Keke riders loans etc, etc. Not me, I would not wait. As a guber aspirant, if I have an election budget of say N5 billion; whether I made the money from politics or not, I will take out 10% which translates to N500m only, move to the 10 Federal Constituencies and establish 1 or 2 cottage industries in each of them. If I have 20 of such industries employing at least 25 staff compliments, I would have taken out at least 500 unemployed youths off the street. And if God favors me with the ticket, by this time more people will throw in more support for the elections, yet I will not wait for your votes, I would do even more. I will take out another N1 Billion Naira, still go back to the same 10 federal constituencies but different Local Govt. Areas and this time locate additional 40 MSMEs and this again will translate to additional 1000 youths being taken off the streets and gainfully employed. In the event that I win the election and become the governor of the state, I still would not wait, I will ensure that the remaining Local Governments all have at least one such industry before my first 100 days in office is marked. This is the only way all of you pessimists would believe me. I would do it so that if after the first 100 days and I dont deliver on any other election promise, the people would have at least had a run away success of at least 1 industry per LGA. How about that? Now imagine if all the aspirants decide to come together as we saw most of them at Asan Ibibio the other day, donate 10%, I mean just 10% of their campaign funds into an MSME (Micro-Small-Medium-Scale Enterprises) TRUST FUND before the Primaries, imagine how much impact these aspiring leaders would have made in the lives of the people even before the God-favoured one gets nominated and elected. The economies of China, India, Korea, Japan are strong by reason of the preponderance of MSMEs. Thats how jobs and wealth creation thrive in those economies. No, I certainly would not wait and I mean it, After all, the campaign funds were meant to be spent. I would adjust my budget, buy less nos. of campaign vehicles, cut down on group consultation fees, hire less crowds for my campaigns, cut down expenditure on billboards, posters and stickers, spend less on media blitz and advertorials, kill less nos. of cows & goats, reduce spending on birthdays and other chop-chop parties, even reduce the gratuities for delegates and polling agents and ensure I provide at least 15 - 20% of my budget for this and methinks, the rest will be history. In the event that I do not win after doing all these, (coz there will only be one governor); I would still go back satisfied knowing that I did something for the people and anytime I tell my people, I will do something else, their hitherto pessimism will pave way for optimism, belief and ultimately trust which can only be earned from antecedents and who said I would not be a blessed person for establishing industries for the people even when I am not a governor? and whoever said the lucky governor will not then be challenged to do even more and take industrialization of the state and jobs creation to the next level? Again, dont forget the funds were meant to be spent ab initio... This is not a challenge though, only my thoughts... But I also know it is a possibility. God bless Akwa Ibom State!!!
