If My People...part 2 If My people who are called by My Name - TopicsExpress

If My People...part 2 If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 Yesterday I dealt with the huge question based on a little two letter word If...today we continue to look into this powerful passage and it impact on us and the world we live in. Once again these words were spoken by Solomon at the dedication of the Temple, the words are a challenge and a promise to Israel, and I believe to us in the day we live. The next portion that we must consider are the words MY PEOPLE. These words can be very bothersome to many followers of Christ, because they put the onus and responsibility for the spiritual condition of a nation on us. It is the nature of most Christians, unfortunately, to place the blame for the deterioration of decency and righteousness only on the shoulders of the unbelievers. If we do this we fall into the trap of playing the blame game and never come to a place of personal responsibility before God and even for those who have yet placed their faith in Christ. It is true that each person is responsible for their actions and for their response to the Lord and His call on their lives. But this passage places a great responsibility upon Gods people, one that we cannot cast aside or place on others. The responsibility and the promise of an answer from the Lord to act are placed squarely upon those who follow Christ. Why you ask? Because who else has a relationship with God...who else has the privilege to go before the Father and ask for mercy...who else are the ones called out of darkness into His marvelous light...who else is able to walk in His righteousness? The answer is His people! Today if you are one of His people, He is speaking to us in this passage. He is saying, If My people... It is easy to blame everyone else because they wont hear His call and respond to His ways, but what about we who are His people? Time to stop making excuses and stop just claiming to be His people and to start being His people! Lord, today, let me walk, love, act and make a difference as your child and as one of your disciples!
