If Saarang is still the social/cultural festival organized by the student representatives, it has to respect the variability of political stands among the students. If Saarang uses a single penny (directly or indirectly in the form of infrastructure) from the tax-payer’s money it is legally responsible to stay neutral. ChintaBAR requests the IIT Madras student community to raise their opinion against this unhealthy precedence which is outrightly harming the spirit of Saarang. Saarang is owned by the student community of IIT Madras and not by a bunch of cores or student representatives. We also request the student representatives to be responsible to their primary duty of “representing the students”.
