If a transcendent creator did not exist, and the universe were but - TopicsExpress

If a transcendent creator did not exist, and the universe were but a collection of particles randomly colliding with one another, then freewill would be but an illusion. The choices were think we made were nothing but the determined outcome of random collisions of the particles in our brain. And if freewill is but an illusion, then rationality and all of scientific thought would be but an illusion as well. For what we thought were logical and had the freewill to think otherwise was but forced upon us by the random collision of particles. Thinking would be but an illusion. The first dogma which I came to disbelieve was that of free will. It seemed to me that all notions of matter were determined by the laws of dynamics and could not therefore be influenced by human wills. -- Bertrand Russell Thanks be to God for being God then.
