As suburban sprawl and roadside development globalize more and more places to look the same, it becomes important for communities to keep their identities intact. Bishop Farm is currently the only farm remaining in Hatfield and is located on one of the few surviving undeveloped natural landmarks in Hatfield. As a whole, historical foundations serve as reminders of the past. Sustaining monuments of the past allows residents and visitors alike to understand and appreciate the roots of the community. When people understand what the community has gone through and have visual reminders of their past, they will inevitably feel more connected to their town. Keeping that in mind, renovation and preservation of The Bishop Farmstead property would benefit the community as a whole if made into a local destination or extension of The Hatfield Historical Society. A community effort could go into effect on restoring this landmark by raising funds and recruiting volunteers to implement the restoration. A great website to start out with for raising money for the restoration effort is gofundme/. People from all over the world will be provided with the oppurtunity to help contribute to preservation of one of the few historical landmarks we have left in Hatfield. As a resident of Hatfield, I believe restoration and preservation of The Bishop Farmstead property would not only help preserve our communitys roots as a whole, but also help educate and remind our future generations of cultural and technological changes over the years.
