In the midst of my stress - although my daily chanting etc., usually insulates me from these things - there are some factors in my environment that are exacerbating these stresses - if anything it has to be an occasion to apply the clear vedic logic that is the cornerstone of my life... The brahmana understood that all his suffering—from other living beings, from the higher forces of nature and from his own body—was unavoidable, being allotted to him by providence. [Srimad Bhagavatam 11.23.40] The brähmaëa said: These people are not the cause of my happiness and distress. Neither are the demigods, my own body, the planets, my past work, or time. Rather, it is the mind alone that causes happiness and distress and perpetuates the rotation of material life. [Srimad Bhagavatam 11.23.42] One who is not disturbed in mind even amidst the threefold miseries or elated when there is happiness, and who is free from attachment, fear and anger, is called a sage of steady mind. In the material world, one who is unaffected by whatever good or evil he may obtain, neither praising it nor despising it, is firmly fixed in perfect knowledge. [Bhagavad Gita 2.56-7] ...blasphemy and praise, chastisement and respect, are experienced because of ignorance... [Srimad Bhagavatam 7.1.23] One should neither praise nor criticize the conditioned nature and activities of other persons. Rather, one should see this world as simply the combination of material nature and the enjoying souls, all based on the one Absolute Truth. Whoever indulges in praising or criticizing the qualities and behavior of others will quickly become deviated from his own best interest by his entanglement in illusory dualities. [Srimad Bhagavatam 11.28.1-2] So i should just tolerate and hope change to the situation and some good comes out of this mess at some point...I do have the Holy Name to protect me!
