If any of you are wondering about the ordain women movement and the excommunication of Kate Kelly, here is a statement given by the Prophet, President Monson, and his counselors. The ordain women movement has generated a lot of publicity, but I want all of my friends to know that I have never felt like my Church treats woman inferiorly. I feel woman are valued, honored, and given many opportunities to lead and serve in the Church. Also, I feel that all the service that we perform on earth, (both in and and our of the Church) should never be for our own personal gain. If we truly are followers of Jesus Christ, we serve others out of love. I do not need to be ordained to the priesthood to serve my Savior Jesus Christ. I do not need to be ordained to the priesthood to have access to all the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Women are given priesthood authority to perform all of their Church responsibilities when they are set apart. For example I was given priesthood authority to serve as a missionary for my Church. I did not have to be ordained to the priesthood to have access to this authority. Okay, so my rant is over. But, Ive been trying to understand this ordain women movement and I just dont get it. Striving to focus on following the teachings of Jesus Christ and filling our hearts with pure charity, should always be at the forefront of our minds and actions. When we get lost in the service of others, we find our soul.
