If anybody should recoil at the prospect of being stereotyped as a group, it’s people in Southie, who were lumped together with the racist thugs who threw rocks at buses carrying black kids in the 1970s. this a quote from the article that resonated with me not because of its political stance, but that was during the time when Benny and Reenie, my lovely parents, where living along the Charles River....starting their new life together in Boston and beginning their own family. Of course, she was 9 months pregnant with me and decided to go into labor, then have to wait for a cab, which then got stuck in the middle of a vicious rock throwing protest with nowhere to go....you get the picture. so, while the actual birth was uneventful, the events leading up to it were adventuresome. story of my life.
