If anything is going to ruin Facebook, it will be all the hate. Hate can come from any direction, right or left, theist or atheist, race or other race - you name it. I suspect someone will hate me for hating hate. I cant tell that any productive purpose is served by reflexively unfriending and blocking the haters because the only lasting answer is to identify the perceived injustice that lies at the core of the hate, to understand it, and to find common ground for action to correct it. Nothing fixes hate like humanizing each other. Can we agree to work together to make this page at least a hate-free zone. Ill provide the challenge myself by coming out of the closet, so everyone can practice on me. I AM AN ATHEIST. I AM A LIBERAL. I AM PRO-CHOICE. I FAVOR GUN CONTROL. I BELIEVE GOVERNMENT IS NECESSARY AND CAN SOMETIMES DO GOOD. I BELIEVE HUMANS ARE DESTROYING OUR ENVIRONMENT. So there you go. If you must hate, I have given almost everybody at least one reason. Go for it. There is nothing I can do about it, because it is too late for me to take back these caustic revelations. I am uninterested in some silly Facebook page that provides any kind of platform for hatred of people, so if we must hate, lets hate IDEAS that hurt people. Lets hate IDEAS that damage the world we have to share with people different from us. Lets hate hate. So there you go. If you thought the only reason I am here is to sell my book, this proves you wrong. I may well have cost myself plenty of money by posting this, but so what? Im not going to whore myself for a few bucks at this time in my life. I would love to see a constructive conversation in the comments about keeping this site intellectually alive, mutually respectful, and free of hate for PEOPLE.
