If boxing depended on live gates like they used to, and not - TopicsExpress

If boxing depended on live gates like they used to, and not television, I think more fights would have happened in Britain, like the Mayweather-Hatton fight, and even Hattons fight with Pacquiao. Britsh success in boxing today is due to the many boxing organizations. For me the only men who would have been world champions in my life time had there not been so many champs are Ken Buchanan, Nassem Hammed, Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe. Lewis is really a product more of Canadian amateur boxing and became the better fighter under American Emmanuel Stewart. I doubt that Hatton would have been champion had there only been one jr. welterweight champ, what if Mayweather had gotten the Tzyu fight first? Many of the other British champs also got it because of perfect timing of when they got those title fights. Interesting though, while in the any years past, American white fighters usually bested British white fighters, but that would not be the case today.
