If ever there was a person we should all strive to be like, it is my Dad. After 25 years of his dedication to the Air Force, one mistake by an airman should not have been the reason for his retirement. Im not one to post long, personal, messages on FB, but I really think everyone can benefit from reading this article that was posted today. I am out of words to describe how awful this situation is to watch from so far away. But in a better light, I think his actions will teach a bigger lesson to everyone than if everything had worked out the way we wanted. I encourage you all to read this article, even if you do not fully understand what is going on. Dad, youre words A good captain goes down with his ship, show more about your character than you realize. You truly lived the words Service before self everyday of your life right up until the end and I know you will continue to live them even into retirement. As I have said many times, everything happens for a reason, and I really do believe that. I am prouder of you than I have ever been in my entire life (and that includes the time you dressed up as cousin Eddy from Christmas Vacation for an ugly sweater contest) Our family has a bright future ahead of us, and we owe all of that to you and Mom. Mom, you are not to be forgotten in all of this either. You are the best support our family could ever ask for, and I hope one day I will be just like both of you. (maybe mashed together in some super human form :)) Love you both and miss you both terribly. But heres to a new chapter of Stanley Family Adventures!
