If only I could leave New York and move down here, Id be happy. I - TopicsExpress

If only I could leave New York and move down here, Id be happy. I cant take the stress of that rat race anymore. I fall asleep by nine and if I make it to twelve: Im lucky. Then I start thinking about stuff and theres no way Ill get back to sleep. Theres no chance of retirement. Ill have to work till I die. Every part of my body hurts and I have to drink a couple of vodkas just to fall asleep for a few hours. If I could just move down here Ill be better off. Im tired of paying for free loaders like a guy I see in Jamaica Queens who has no job and spends everyday shining his Cadillac, living on the dole while I work myself to death supporting him. My very long time friend was venting after I asked him the loaded question, How you doing? He went on a lot longer, along the same vein of dialogue, like a keg of dynamite waiting for a charge. He clearly needed to release so i gave him the required platform, asking him out away from the others so we had some privacy. The guy waxing the car, do you really know him? No, he answered. Perhaps you are accepting the propaganda of the 1% that is attempting to steer your attention away from those that have all the wealth and own all the media, those that want you to be angry at those that steel the pennies while they reap the billions. Is that possible? I guess so, he returned. They are a much easier target for our exhausted souls, right? Perhaps You dont even know that guy, right? No I dont So you will accuse someone whos life you have no idea about, of steeling from you while those that you know are steeling from us: you ignore. Maybe but all I know is my life sucks. I have no future and I feel dead, like Ive been dead for years. My friend you have to learn to deal with your stress, Now. Yeah, but if I can move out of New York, i will be able to eventually retire and live a good life. Ever hear, wherever you go: there you are? Yes I told my friend, Im saying this as your peer rather than what might sound as someone who is on a soapbox. I have lived what you are experiencing and still have problems myself but the stress and the lifestyle you carry needs to be changed because no other change will lead to happiness. Ive seen people move to where I live, expecting the good life but only having a change of the details of the suffering. I can suggest 3 ways, though there may be others. You could meditate, or you could do yoga or you could change your eating to a whole food, plant based diet. Chances are very good that any one of the three will eventually lead you to the other two. I wanted to go deeper and offer more but I wasnt sure he was even listening. His wife started to signal for him to leave with her. It was the second or third time she tried to get him to follow. We live 2500 miles apart so I went all in, heres my card with a way to reach me anytime. I gave him a hug looking at his overweight, stress riddled frame. This maybe the last time I see you before you die of a heart attack or something else thats self induced. You might think death is an answer to your suffering but the larger part of you, your consciousness, knows its not. I so hope you choose to save yourself from what you have created. Please call me as I would like to help because right now your a dead man walking. I know, he said as he walked out with his wife. I thought of how poorly, how ineffectually I handled someones plea for help, wishing I was more capable. Back in my room, listening to the divinity of the Atlantic surf, the thoughts came of how much we humans suffer, how much suffering we cause and how unnecessary it is. I so want to help but dont know how.
