If someone condemns someone for not following a particular - TopicsExpress

If someone condemns someone for not following a particular commandment when it comes to the 10 commandments, yet feels justified in not honoring one of the others, what does that imply? Let me give you an example: There are those who object to using the human image of Christ as a man or baby for illustrative purposes when teaching or telling about Christ, his birth, life, death, and resurrection. They claim it is against the 2nd commandment to do so. They claim the 10 commandments should be upheld. Again, mind you, this is not about worshiping graven images, but about using a depiction of Christ as a human for story telling and illustrative purposes in teaching or relating Gods Word. Yet on the other hand they observe Sunday for their worship, which is the first day of the week, not the seventh day that God said was Holy, because it is the Lords day and was observed by the early Church. So on the one hand there is a call to adhere to one of the commandments, but on the other there is an exercise of our liberty to abandon the seventh day observance. Does that make sense? Just curious as to what everyone out there has to say about this. *NOTE: Let me clear on one thing; I believe the Scriptures literally to be the Word of God. And they are absolutely true. I also believe the the NT takes precedence over the OT but it does not negate the OT. Rather it expands and explains the OT and brings forth the new covenant in Christ. I also believe that Sunday, the Lords day, is a proper day for worship as established by the early Church.
