If students of former COE professor Lee Mullally remember his classes as being light-hearted or downright hilarious, its understandable. Mullally, who retired from UF in 2006, has been known to don the red clown nose and makeup paint and transform into his alter ego, Juggles the Clown. Hes so good at it that he recently received the World Clown Associations Lifetime Achievement Award in Chicago. While a clown at heart, Mullally was an accomplished teacher educator and mentor. At UF, founded SITE (Site-based Implementation of Teacher Education), a novel alternative teacher certification program, and served as a professor-in-residence at Lawton Chiles Elementary School. So, props (clown props and otherwise) to Lee Juggles Mullalley for your lifetime award and for making people smile and laugh for all of these years--as a model teacher and the funniest of clowns.
