I don’t profess to be a lawyer but if ever there was a time to impeach the President, that time could have been 6 years ago. What is the House of Representative waiting for? They have the sole power to impeach. What is the Senate waiting for? They have the sole power to try impeachments. This is the criteria for impeachment is that The President, Vice President and civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for and conviction of treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Some may ask, what is treason? Fair enough, it is the crime of betraying ones country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government. There are other definitions of treason such as in our Constitution it reads: Under Article III, Section 3, of the Constitution, any person who levies war against the United States or adheres to its enemies by giving them Aid and Comfort has commited treason within the meaning of the Constitution. The term, aid and comfort refers to any act that manifests a betrayal of allegiance to the United States, such as furnishing enemies with arms, troops, transportation, shelter or classified information. If a subversive act has a tendency to weaken the power of the United States to attack or resist its enemies, aid and comfort has been given. Bribery refers to the offering, giving, soliciting, or receiving of any item of value as a means of influencing the actions of an individual holding a public or legal duty. Bribery constitutes a crime and both the offeror and the recipient can be criminally charged. What is the meaning of “High Crimes?” High crimes do not mean a more serious crime has been committed. According to the framers of the Constitution it means simply that punishable crimes have been committed by persons in High Positions referring to public officials, because their status are under special obligations that ordinary people are not. That brings us to Misdemeanor and what is it? Simply put a misdemeanor is any crime that is not considered a felony. So I leave you with this one question pertaining to impeachment, can you think of one reason why your current sitting President should be impeached?
