THE UNION OF EMBU AND MBEERE INITIATIVE THEME: A CALL TO REAWAKENING REFLECTION PASSAGE I saiah 51:17-23 New International Version (NIV) The Cup of the Lord’s Wrath 17 Awake, awake! Rise up, Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath, you who have drained to its dregs the goblet that makes people stagger. 18 Among all the children she bore there was none to guide her; among all the children she reared there was none to take her by the hand. 19 These double calamities have come upon you— who can comfort you?— ruin and destruction, famine and sword— who can[a] console you? 20 Your children have fainted; they lie at every street corner, like antelope caught in a net. They are filled with the wrath of the Lord, with the rebuke of your God. 21 Therefore hear this, you afflicted one, made drunk, but not with wine. 22 This is what your Sovereign Lord says, your God, who defends his people: “See, I have taken out of your hand the cup that made you stagger; from that cup, the goblet of my wrath, you will never drink again. 23 I will put it into the hands of your tormentors, who said to you, ‘Fall prostrate that we may walk on you.’ And you made your back like the ground, like a street to be walked on.” Friends, God is calling us for a Reawakening of Conscious for the economic independence of our regions. He is promising a restoration of our past lost glory. Idleness will be fought by hard work and Unity among our diverse communities.Idolatry will not save our economy neither will individualistic view of politics will deliver us from poverty. Our African spirit of brother/sisterhood is an ingredient that amazes many western nations. They wish if they were in Africa as natives to use the diversity and mobilize the locally available resources for creation of wealth. Divisive politics based on Tribe, clan ,language or status of power will never unite us but scatter us into pieces. Divide and rule did not help french colonies neither. Colonialism in 17th-19th Centuries stole from our granary the wealth of Africa. After we attained independence in 1963 and a republic in 1964, our leaders carried forward the hangovers and torture of their colonial masters.Today ,the impact is an echo of what we can see with our naked eyes. Tribes rising against tribes, clans rising against clans.. your name has betrayed you! so sad. We must now listen to the God of all creation. God is Unity,Love, peace and Justice.God does not keep a record of wrongs. He want to restore us again to happiness and prosperity. We must therefore not disobey Him but desire to walk with him and follow his promises.God is Just and Loving. He will forgive us our mistakes. Let us unite and let us embrace each other without malice. I exhort the people of this land, my kinsmen to rise up against any individual leader or a group of leaders who shall be seen inciting our people on this land for separation or disunity on ethnic grounds. We all share a common heritage known as Kenya and her territorial boundaries. Divisive politics are disastrous and we know these from Rwanda and Burundi not to mention the Post election violence of 2007/008 in our nation. God want us to enjoy peace and prosperity on this land.Let us embrace diversity for change and development. 4T FORMULA- TUUNGANE -TUUE UKABILA-TUFANYE KAZI-TUFUKUZE UMASIKINI-DIVERSITY IS POWER NOT ENEMY OF CHANGE! TUOMBE!
