If there are any Chancel Musicians out there who are new to working in a southern black Baptist invironment. Dont get personally involved IN ANYTHING. Dont date or otherwise let yourself get caught up in a BET reality show. It want go well. Watch out for the deacons. Their primary interest is in theory The Church so theyll use any trick ,excuse, exaggeration to try and get back the check they grudgingly pay. Mind those Revs. and Deacons wholl try to pull a sneaky while hiding behind scriptures. Remember. Despite whats said you are an employee. Be professional keep up with the latest songs. No matter how obsurd. Dress in church mode even at rehearsal. Dont say practice say Rehearsal!! Make any new drummer especially young ones take lessons from a reputable drummer. Be humble now!! There are some great players in The Church wholl take you to task if your beans aint dont. Listen to your mate before loosing your temper. Older musicians are expensive. Be truthful, if you need the income let any smart arse remark pass. It gets easier after a while. Besides,do you really want your mate fussing about it?? Persevere, itll be over in 25-30yrs.
