If we are to believe in evolution then we cannot place blame on men for the existence of patriarchy, we must start the blame at the developing social structure of our ancestors. We are primates, most primate societies are patriarchies, with our species it evolved from there. should it be changed now that we are no longer ignorant to the fact that it doesnt have to be that way? yes. can we blame one gender for something that actually developed due to the nature of our species and where we evolved from? I dont think we should. blame individuals who take advantage of it and fight to keep it in place for their own benefit, but patriarchy was a naturally produced cultural structure, it was not propagated by the males of our species alone but by the entire species as it evolved. I believe we must first understand this to understand how we can find middle ground and evolve even further into something better.
