If we cant defend selfishness, we cant defend liberty, because liberty is the legalization of selfishness. No libertarian or Tea Partier would ever say, If youre raised in a family that advocates capitalism, you should advocate capitalism—but if youre raised in a socialist family , you should advocate socialism—because you should just do what your family says you should do. We need to apply this same standard—the standard of independent thinking—to moral matters. You would never accept socialism just because your parents said you should be a socialist, so why accept a moral code just because your Sunday school teacher or professors or family told you its right? Capitalism legalizes selfishness. We should not run from this fact; we should embrace it. —Craig Biddle
