If we were to go by text book definitions, I would be a Feminist. - TopicsExpress

If we were to go by text book definitions, I would be a Feminist. As I believe in the social, political, and economic equality between the genders. However, I 100% think that modern day Feminism is way too fragmented, de-centralized, and contains way too much infighting to actually accomplish anything. If anything, it has become of stereotype that anti-feminists claim that it has always been. As such, I claim the title Egalitarian, rather than Feminist, when it comes to the fight for gender equality. However, Ive been told on more than one occasion that Egalitarian is code for anti-Feminism and that one can *only* support gender equality if they identify as a Feminist. Why? This seems more like a semantic issue than anything else. Why does one need to hold such a specific title to support something like gender quality?
