If you are a police officer, firefighter, EMT/MEDIC, first responder, responsible citizen, armed responsible citizen, CPR/AED certified, person who leaves their house day to day, a person, have a pulse, have seen a Bruce Willis movie, or just give a crap about your fellow man, you SHOULD read this article. TQs save lives. In my opinion they are in trauma what the AED and CPR are to Cardiac Arrest. I have been a proponent of TQs for a few years now. Even when I was a Basic Student, it didnt make sense to me that people were even a little bit worried about putting one on someone. If they are bleeding...they dont need to be bleeding, so make them stop. I carry a TQ on my person on and off duty for personal and buddy use. If you dont have one...GET ONE. They are fairly inexpensive, especially in the context of how much is your life worth. They have even changed what order we render aid these days. Its no longer ABCs. Its BLEEDING, then airway. Why? Remember, we can get more air in the body, but putting more blood takes real effort and special care. So STOP the bleeding. If you run out of blood, you run out of life....
