If you are arrested, be polite and civil with the police, and give them basic biographical information they request (name, address, date of birth). Beyond that, do not offer any information until you have received legal guidance. Your attorney is your best asset if you have been charged with a crime. His or her expertise is in understanding the laws and protocols of the legal system and is able to use that knowledge to create your defense.
