If you are tired of preparing teaching and learning aids for classroom instruction ..... Try this... 1. Instruct the students to open their textbooks ....starting from page one or whichever page you prefer....(e.g page 1-20, according to the time frame you have) 2. Ask the student to listen and circle the words that you read aloud (listening practice). Your choice of words depends on your objective. 3. For Example : 3.1 For students to match sounds with the symbols (letters) Read all the words beginning with a, b, d, e, f , w, y, z....etc....etc... Read all the word ending with es, ed, ly, ness, s, ss, ch, th...etc...etc..... 3.2 For students to recognise words with long vowels /i:/, /u:/,/a:/...etc...etc.... Read the words such as sheep, feet, beat, heat, seat.....etc...etc..... 4. To make sure that they are following you, ask any of them to write the word that you have just read on the whiteboard, randomly...so that they will be alert all the way. 5. Remember to give them the positive feed-back they deserve to sustain their genuine involvement now and then.
