If you are wondering how the median on Washington between Lincoln and Cleveland got cleaned, one of our Clean UH Up volunteers, Randall Mann, decided it needed to be done and enlisted his teenage grandson to help. There were out there on their own working on it Saturday afternoon (today) when MaryBeth from UHCA Beautification rode by on her bike and saw them. She rushed home, collected the eye catching volunteer t-shirts, water, traffic cones, brooms, a dust pan and extra trash bags and drove over to help them out. The good news: the median looks great and we got a number of honks and verbal compliments. The bad news: a woman in her car in the left turn lane at Cleveland was smoking a cigarette right by where we were sweeping up debris and cigarette butts. She tossed her butt into the street as she took off around the corner! You cannot believe how many cigarette butts there are on the medians and at the curbs. Please show pride in our neighborhood but keeping your trash and butts in the car and throwing them out at home. Thank you and we hope you enjoy the view!
