If you came down on the side of John Kasich and SB 5, you most likely lost last night. Mayor Bell in Toledo, the only big city Mayor to side with Kasich on Issue 2 was defeated by the former President of the Toledo Police Patrolman’s Association, Mike Collins by a 56-44 margin. Cuyahoga Falls Mayor, a 30 year incumbent and anti-collective bargaining poster boy Don Robart, was defeated. Former Mayor Robart advocated for the elimination of public sector collective bargaining in his 2009 State of the City address and was one of the first local officials to publicly support SB 5.
