If you dance with your heart, your body will follow. — Mia Michaels Sometimes, I wonder if we have a full understanding of the insidious life-sucking nature of spiritual marching. In most cases, it looks so darn good on the outside, but oh, the death it causes inside. Eugene Kennedy wrote, The devil dwells in the urge to control rather than liberate the human soul… We stand by a dark forest, through which fearful religious and political leaders would force us to pass in single file through their exclusive pathway to righteousness.” The unspoken lie of man-made religion is this: If you do right, then you will be right. But because of what Jesus has done, we are all right, and now theres nothing left to do but dance in that truth with our eyes focused on Him (rather than being so consumed with ourselves and our actions). Its time to be free. Its time to dance with your heart… then your body will follow. Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, Praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD (Psalm 150). Come on. Quit marching! The dance is all about praising God for what He has done and truly experiencing the indwelling Christ moment by moment, day by day. Because Jesus, my friends, is the essence of the dance. Lord of the dance, show me specifically today where I am still marching for You, rather than celebrating life with You. Set me free! Set my heart free to praise You! Give me an intense awareness of Your presence around me and in me. With all of my heart, I will follow You as You lead me in this great dance. Amen. Pete Briscoe
