If you dont like chicken legs follow this former dancers calf routine. First of all leave the calf machines in the gym alone for a while.. Start using your own body weight . Ballet dancers use releve in place of heel raises and pliés and demi plie in place of squats. When performing these heel raises , pay strict attention to form. At the top of the movement , hold and flex ; and on returning to the bottom, stretch the heels to the max without lifting the heels off the floor . Work all angles; toes in, toes out, etc. Most important do high volume; ie. 100 reps or till it burns, then alternate legs without bending the knees, while still stretching the heels to the max. repeat each leg till it burns. Do several sets and high volumes every day. Remember not to lift any toes while doing these and for best results ; do them barefooted . After this, stretch the heels .
