If you have not seen this video, take the time to watch this. You see, in 1937 when congress banned marihuana they made it really tough on hemp farmers and basically shut down the entire industry and made it impossible for farmers to grow it. But during WWII in the 1940s Japan invaded the Philippines which was at that time our primary source of fiber. To make up for that shortage of fiber the government passed out enough seeds for farmers to grow several hundred thousand acres of hemp throughout the country, mostly in the mid-west. This short film is part of the governments campaign to convince and educate farmers to once again grow hemp for the war effort. It is fascinating to see the government acknowledging hemp and it usefulness and role in history. Pennsylvania is not mentioned but the role of hemp in this state is deep. Although hemp was grown in all parts of early America it flourished in Pennsylvania so much we became famous for it. I believe that Pennsylvania will once again become a leader in hemp when we get it established. This is why we must pass the Pennsylvania Industrial Hemp Act, SB50.
