If you have to get your dad a donut, Huckleberries seemed to me to be the best (which in hindsight proves I am often an idiot). So off we drove to Huckleberries. Things seemed great until the the price tag nearly gave him heart attack. What I learned from this experience. Apparently you can get 3 Dunkin Donuts for every one Huckleberries donut. AND, Huckleberries offers only one, yes, God forbid one, flavor. A Raised Sugar donut is your only choice. Dunkin Donuts on the other hand has a lot of flavors. Go back and reread the last sentence and when you say a lot, you need to say it in a Rhode Island accent, and you must feel the pain of not having the choices of Dunkin Donuts. So back home we go to try this $3 plus dollar one flavored donut out. I dont drink coffee. I bought coffee for my dad, but I am not versed in its consumption in any way. Well, another lesson of the day is you need coffee or tea to eat a donut. That is the rule. Also, you need milk to put into the coffee. My dad does not like black coffee, he wants some milk. I dont use dairy. So there is no milk. I have coconut milk, almond milk, but no cows milk. Coffee is not happening. So tea it is. Tea seems easy, but it is not. I ask, what flavor tea do you want? I have Chamomile tea. Dad, what is that!, I tell him it helps you relax. Dad, the tea does that, the tea makes you relax, ooh come on, who the hell knows that. I continue, how about ginger, green, I was too shaken to say rooibos, so I simply repeated green three times. I may have been laughing inside too much at this point. He says, how did drinking tea get so complicated, who did this. I had no answer, it seemed like a conspiracy to me too at the moment. I made the green tea, and thus dessert began. He bites into the donut, and I notice a smile appear on his face. Looks like that 3 plus dollar donut taste pretty good. I ask him if it is worth it. He says, yea, this is great, and what do I care, I am on vacation.
