If you havent seen the footage of what a Tsunami can do, this is from the Japan event in 2011 (provoked by a 9.0 Richter Scale earthquake, compared to 9.1-9.3 in the Indian Ocean incident)... From Wikipedia: As measured with a seismometer, an earthquake that registers 5.0 on the Richter scale has a shaking amplitude 10 times that of an earthquake that registered 4.0, and thus corresponds to a release of energy 31.6 times that released by the lesser earthquake. The Indian Ocean event was much more powerful.
