If you learnt Chess, from a lover of the Board game, then you heard the phrase, THINK, BEFORE YOU MOVE! Checkmate! Eugene Brown, a convicted criminal spent his life in prison trying to change life for the hundreds of youth whose life was set and obviously pre-destined for failure and he chose to show them everything was possible with focus, self belief and maximum self utility of their talent. To achieve his goal he chose Chess. Chess clubs, that also became the subject of the Movie, The Life of a King. Unlike many coaches of Chess - Eugene Brown told his students, ALWAYS....think before you MAKE a move Notice the difference in his rallying call, he added - Always and Make. He was making a serious point that applies in life, before taking that move, before walking out on her/him, before clicking enter for that update, before sending that text, before going out to dance, before spending that cash, before forwarding that proposal....ALWAYS think. Eugene did not stop there he added something else - MAKE ... In other words he was saying do not just move the pieces on the board, MAKE a move, think about an issue comprehensively and when you decide be bold and Do not just move...Make a move. Most times relationships break for the most useless/mundane of issues, that moment before saying am done, it is over, Always Think. Analyze the journey, the storms, the waterfalls, the thrills, the joy, weigh them and then Make the move. Our lives are the sum total of our decisions, if our decisions are gonna define our liveS then it pays to take time and Always Think and then Make them. Importantly, have a life game plan and let every decision you make, inform that larger goal, you will lose some, but even the loses make them fit into the maze of the larger game plan. Most of us live life without an overall game plan and that is where we get it wrong. That does not mean you do not create time for life and what the American Constitution calls The pursuit of happiness it just means it should never take away a higher percentage of your game plan. The bible in Romans 8:39 records an interesting verse, - Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. In other words there will high and low moments, but neither excitement nor depression should take away the focus. It was once said of those who take well thought out decisions, some birds cannot be caged, they are so bright for that, they cannot be stopped, they must fly they will always fly Checkmate! ALWAYS think before you MAKE the Move!
