If you live in Withernsea or any of the South Holderness villages - TopicsExpress

If you live in Withernsea or any of the South Holderness villages up to and around Thorngumbald, and have ever had a medical emergency when you have had to call an ambulance, chances are the first person on the scene was a Community First Responder. Rigourously trained by the Ambulance Service, these individuals are people from your own community who are able to respond to calls faster, and either give first aid where appropriate, or support and comfort to the patient and the family. It is a fact that lives have been saved by the first aid, including de-fibrulation and resuscitation, given by these Responders. And they are completely voluntary. On duty throughout the night, often with work the next morning, and not even expenses paid, but very, very happy to support their communities. Unfortunately, they also have to buy their own Responder Bags, containing oxygen, defibrillators, etc., which cost in excess of £1000. And these bags have a shelf-life.
