If you need reason for action, read this email I just received from SAFE. Why doesnt the sheriff take care of this man he has made homeless in his jail? And we the people can visit our friend in the sheriffs jail while we all think to ourselves the sheriff should be in jail. What a horrible day... Byron was at Harbor View when we last saw him. They first dropped him off at the VA. They wouldnt take him. Then they took him to Harbor View and they wouldnt take him. Then they took him back to the VA... and they wouldnt take him. Then they took him back to Harbor View again, and that is where his sons found him. When we got there he was laid up in a bed in the ER still in generally good spirits and still ready to fight for his rights, but his mouth was bleeding from dehydration and he looked like hell. He is being treated like a sack of potatoes. He has missed his medication today and his wife is worried. We couldnt make this up. He should now be on his way back to the VA for the third time today to spend the night. We feel like his rights have been trampled on. We talked with a social worker from the VA and she assured me that they reported that his home was safe and healthy. They were in the apartment down stairs where Byron lived with his wife. They dont understand where the report from the housing department came from that the Mayor so publicly announced his support for. The same report that was used by the Sheriffs department to obtain a warrant and arrest Byron, Jean, and one of their sons. They came into the house with guns drawn and never showed any of them a warrant, according to Byron. They were all handcuffed and arrested. Then the media was paraded through the messy upstairs. Henry Rosoff from KIRO 7 did a real heartless hatchet job on the Bartons and ambushed Jean outside her home after the arrest. The story for him was that the cats upstairs had pissed and crapped on the floor. Henry obviously hates the poor people and likes to report on drama. He recently moved here from Wisconsin. Who cares that Chase committed fraud and that the Bartons are suing to recover their home. Who cares whether or not they are appealing and that the displacement most likely caused Byrons stroke. Who cares about the laws that were broken before the auction. Henry Rosoff has already made a name for himself in Seattle hating on the homeless. This is the nightmare that the Sheriff brought down on the Bartons early this morning. Jeans and her son were not charged and were released once they got to the South West precinct. Her other son picked them up. They are going to be staying in a hotel tonight. Now Jean works in a homeless shelter and has been made homeless. Henry Rosoff and other corporate media would have you believe that they are the villians. A predatory shell company called Triangle Property Development is of course the victim in this story. They are only trying to profit off of human suffering. Whats wrong with this? Whats wrong with that? One things for sure, the right wing talk show host Dori Munson is extremely proud of the Sheriff today. Its about time he put these people out on the street. That is the end of SAFEs email.
