If you read this together with shriverreport.org and the reports on Oklahomas education outcomes--the number of kids living in poverty will continue to increase unless we dramatically change this statistic AND our education outcomes! Most of these young moms will not get a high school diploma or post secondary education-meaning their kids will be raised in poverty. 90% of todays highest paying, fastest growing jobs require post-secondary education. It takes everyone to make a difference! (Volunteer one hour a week with Readingpartners.org in Tulsa schools to help kids learn to read at grade level by third grade--it will make a difference long term!
