If you scroll down for a while on the news past the news on the Charlie Hebdo tragedy, past the news upcoming vote on the XL Keystone Pipeline, past various commentaries on police brutality, you might see that, since the weekend, Boko Haram has killed upwards of 2000 civilians in Northeastern Nigeria. Im 100% sure that this would be a cover story for weeks if it happened in America. I cant see any kind of explanation for this other than some kind of racist indifference (either by the news companies or by news consumers) towards the lives of black people in Western Africa. That might seem pretty simple, but I really cant think of a better explanation. Amnesty International is calling this the deadliest attack that Boko Haram has ever conducted. This isnt just normal for Nigerians. If theres a better explanation, Im very interested in hearing it. Two thousand people is just sooooooooo bad. Seems like news agencies should be doing a much better job with this one. npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2015/01/09/376122497/reports-of-boko-haram-led-massacre-in-captured-nigerian-town
