If you take up a peoples cause, governments try to nail you. It is not surprising if there will be criminal cases against you. Gandhi was charged of sedition. What is important is your conscience. The anti-nuclear demonstrator Uday Kumar or the anti-Posco demonstrator Mohanty have a number of criminal cases against them which have been foisted by govt or governments cronies. It is just the price one has to pay for fighting for the people. Mathany Saldanha had cases against him during the Meta strip agitation. This is totally different from charges of mass murder or rioting when being part of the government.
