If you use the pre-paid metre of PHCN (or whatever its successor companies are known by today), each time you buy electricity token (recharge as some call it), you will notice that there is a FIXED CHARGE of =N=25 per day which we are all compelled to pay whether the beneficiaries of the sale of PHCN successor companies provide us with electricity or not. my questions this morning are: WHO IS THIS CHARGE MEANT FOR AND FOR WHAT? are we not supposed to be billed for electricity consumed as we are billed for telecoms services provided to us and which we use? Government should either compel NERC to abolish this charge or direct NCC to ensure that telecom service providers also introduce fixed charge. Afterall, whether we have airtime in our phones or not, as long as our phones are not recovered due to protracted non usage, We still receive calls and that is service. What is happening under NERC watch is government approved extortion of its citizens.
