If you want clear evidence of why the Four Seasons (along with the Beach Boys and the Motown acts) continued to thrive even after the Beatles and the British Invation hit in 1964, this song provides it. When people thouht of the Four Seasons, the first thing they thought about was Frankie Vallis falsetto, but you will not find many 60s songs that more professional instrumental backing than this one, including incredible percussion. Then just listen to the lyrics. The late Bob Crewe tells an affecting story about a boy from the the wrong side of the tracks, who is willing to give up his girl so she can have a better life. This one was also a favorite of my South students.
