If you want to honor the dead, please take care of the living. There is more honor in feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless and protecting the innocent (especially women and children) than erecting a statue. I understand that we want to honor Sardar Patels legacy. But he, as the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of India (and a Congress man to boot), organised relief for refugees in Punjab and Delhi, and led efforts to restore peace across the nation. He would find such efforts to lavish money on his name, wasteful and would encourage us to take care of Indian citizens just as he had. Else we will have more dead people on our hands. There will come a time when we can dedicate a worthy stone monument to his legacy, but that time isnt now. But it is past time to practice what our heroes preach. - Rejoy
