If you want to make or play musical notes, you will need to learn to read music. It is not really difficult to read notes, but may take some time to master. You will need to know how to read different notes to be able to play an instrument. Once you learn how to read music, you can become a more versatile musician. If you can read scores, you can learn to play musical notes you have never heard before. You can also compose your own songs. You will be able to learn pieces faster if you can understand the music sheet. You can start by getting familiar with the treble clef. Musical notes are written on a staff of 5 lines. There are 7 notes from A to G. This is one of the first things you will encounter when you are learning how to play an instrument. The 5 lines you see on music sheet are called the staff. This is where notes and other symbols are written. The first musical symbol written on a staff is called the clef. A treble clef otherwise referred to as the G symbol is commonly used for music dedicated to vocal sounds in soprano, alto, mezzo soprano and tenor. It is also often used for musical notes for the guitar, violin, and trumpet. The G clef is also closely related to instruments played with the right hand such as a piano. Notes played on the G clef are E, G, B, D, and F. The Bass clef of F clef starts on the line for the F note between 2 dots. This is usually used for low pitched voices and instruments. Some low pitched instruments are the bass, bassoon trombone, and tuba. The F clef is used more often for the left hand on a piano. The notes on the Bass clef from top to bottom are G, B, D, F, and A. You will also have to identify the key signature when you are learning to read music. On the right side of the clef are one or more sharp and flat symbols. These are placed before the notes on the staff. This is referred to as the key signature. If the key symbols are absent, this means the notes remain natural and played as is on a musical instrument. The symbol on either line of spaces indicates that all the notes on that line or space should be played flat. On a piano this is played by striking the key that is half lower than normal. For example, if you see a flat symbol on the staff for B, this indicates that all B notes are to be played on the key between A and B. The notes are called B-flats. The sharp symbol indicates that you should play corresponding notes a half note higher. The sharp symbol looks like a typical number sign. So, if you have a flat symbol on the line that holds the A note, you must strike the key between A and the next note, B. This key is represented by the black key between the A and B keys. It is not that hard to learn to read music, it just needs a bit of memory work and practice.
