If you were a cop and you were just told someone robbed a store nearby, what would you? You would go to the scene. If you confronted the CRIMINAL and you told him to put his hands up and get down on the ground and he didnt, wouldnt you get aprehensive? If the CRIMINAL then rushed at you, with you telling him to stop, but he continues to charge, would you not shoot him in self-defense. Do you see how race is not an issue in this case and how the cops actions were justified? The cop said he was sorry that there was a loss in life, but he had no idea what the CRIMINAL would do, and he reacted the way he was trained. This isnt exactly what happened, but it is similar. The media malipulates the stories they know will get ratings. That is all they care about. Sure you can twist this into a national tradgedy based on racism, but that doesnt mean that is what is true. Would you stop flicking through channels when you pass CNN and read Cop kills robber in self-defense. Probably not or only for a minute. How about White cop shoots, kills young black man. Chances are that would catch your attention. The media planted the seeds with facts that are represented in a certain way that lead you to believe something. Then people, especially those in power or with expertise, start commenting on what they were lead to believe. This makes it news somehow. Looks at the facts and determine for yourself what makes the most sense. Could this have been a hate crime? Of course it is always a possibility, but we dont know what was going through the cops mind. However, the likely scenario was a cop doing his job in response to a criminal.
